Biography of the photographer

I was born in north-western Pennsylvania in 1971.

In the autumn of 1990, after free-lancing as a photographer, as an avid environmentalist I wanted to make a contribution scientifically. I received my BSc from the University of Maryland in 1995 and my MSc and PhD from the University of Rochester, in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

I then continued my academic career for the next 20 years as a postdoctoral research associate, and assistant professor, and then an associate professor.

I am now focusing more on my photography to explore and show what a beautiful and marvellous world we have and need to protect. These pages reflect the beauty and wonder of birds.

Enjoy,

Jon
